But to understand these animals and their world, scientists must look beyond the dazzling remains of Apatosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, and other icons to tiny fossils that appear, at first glance, distinctly unimpressive.
These well-preserved fossils are providing some of the highest-resolution pictures yet of a dinosaur ecosystem. They reveal the often overlooked creatures that scurried and swam around.
