The James Webb Space Telescope has provided an unprecedented view of the super star cluster Westerlund 1, showcasing thousands of stars in a compact area.
Westerlund 1 contains massive stars between 50,000 and 100,000 times the mass of our sun and is expected to produce 1,500 supernovae in less than 40 million years.
