The viewing period for ancient Comet C/2023 A3 began on Friday and will continue until around Halloween, before it fades from visibility.
According to astronomer Andrew Fraknoi, it's safe to look directly at the comet, unlike the sun, and binoculars can enhance your viewing experience.
By Oct. 21, the comet will be directly above Venus, making it easier to spot; however, bright moonlight could complicate visibility.
Alex Filippenko notes that the nucleus of the comet is growing faint, but its tail may seem longer as our perspective changes.
