Take a peek inside the fleet of C-130s that Cal Fire is converting to fight wildfires
Briefly

Cal Fire's new C-130H aircraft, capable of carrying 4,000 gallons of fire retardant, enhances firefighting efforts and joins its fleet of repurposed military aircraft.
Stu Sprung, Cal Fire's chief of flight operations, expressed pride in the repurposing process, stating, 'We strip them down to the rivets and the bare metal and build them back up to almost new aircraft.'
The C-130H expands Cal Fire's capabilities significantly, as the S-2T air tanker carried only 1,200 gallons of fire retardant.
Cal Fire received seven C-130 Hercules from the U.S. Coast Guard, increasing their fleet of aircraft that initially served military purposes.
