"He had multiple bullet wounds around his body," Haug claimed in an Instagram post, alarming those who advocate for marine wildlife protection and drawing attention to the possibility of foul play.
"The injuries on the whale are alarming and of a nature that cannot rule out a criminal act - it is shocking," said animal rights group Noah director Siri Martinsen, urging police involvement.
"There was nothing to immediately reveal the cause of death," director Sebastian Strand noted, suggesting that initial markings might be from marine birds, showing the ambiguity of the situation.
"I have been with Hvaldimir for the past five years and know him very well," Haug stated, reinforcing her belief that Hvaldimir was killed by gunshot.
