Someday, Earth Will Have a Final Total Solar Eclipse
Briefly

At some point in the distant future, Earth will experience its last total solar eclipse as the moon continues to drift away from our planet. This will result in only annular eclipses, according to NASA scientist Noah Petro.
The moon has been moving away from Earth since its formation over four billion years ago, a process driven by gravitational interactions causing Earth to spin more slowly. Ocean scientist Mattias Green compares this phenomenon to a figure skater extending arms to slow down.
