Smallest known great ape, which lived 11m years ago, found in Germany
Briefly

The new miniature ape species, Buronius manfredschmidi, estimated at 10kg, lived alongside the larger hominid, Danuvius guggenmosi, 11 million years ago in Germany.
Buronius was an adept climber with a diet of soft fruits and leaves. Danuvius, taller and sturdier, was likely an omnivore with primitive bipedalism.
Differences in their lifestyles may have allowed Buronius and Danuvius to coexist without competing, similar to modern gibbons and orangutans.
