See Firefly's Blue Ghost lander bathed in red during solar eclipse captured from the moon
Briefly

During the recent lunar eclipse, observers on Earth were treated to a magnificent display of a red-tinged moon. In a unique twist, Firefly's Blue Ghost lander captured this event from the lunar surface, where it experienced a solar eclipse. The imagery showcases how sunlight refracts through Earth’s atmosphere when it blocks the sun. Despite its impending lunar night, Blue Ghost continues to transmit breathtaking visuals, including plans to observe the lunar sunset shortly after.
These images - rapidly captured by our top deck camera with different exposure settings - were stitched together in a quick clip, showcasing how refracted sunlight creates a red hue.
The red hue is the result of sunlight refracting through the Earth's atmosphere as the sun is blocked by our planet, casting a shadow on the lunar surface.
The video shows Venus as a small dot above the eclipse and even Mercury to its left if you look closely.
After landing on March 2, Blue Ghost has shared impressive visuals, with plans to observe the lunar sunset on March 16.
