Scientists set sights on asteroid larger than Eiffel Tower as it skims past Earth
Briefly

The European Space Agency (Esa) has announced funding for preparatory work on the Rapid Apophis Mission for Security and Safety (Ramses) to study asteroid 99942 Apophis during its close flyby in 2029.
The mission aims to collect data on Apophis's size, shape, mass, spin dynamics, composition, internal structure, orbit, and how it changes as it passes within 20,000 miles of Earth on April 13, 2029.
The insights from Ramses will aid in understanding asteroids and the risks they present, facilitating future deflection strategies when necessary according to Dr. Holger Krag from the Esa.
