Scientist Britney Schmidt wins Blavatnik Award | Cornell Chronicle
Briefly

Schmidt received the Blavatnik National Award for her groundbreaking research on ice-ocean interactions and innovative explorations of Earth's polar regions and icy planetary bodies.
"Britney is truly a pioneer in the field of climate change research. We need scientists like Britney who can harness multiple disciplines to address the challenges of climate change and it's good to see her important, innovative work recognized by this award," said Peter John Loewen.
Schmidt and her team designed, built and deployed Icefin, a remotely operated vehicle that provides unprecedented insights into Antarctic ice shelf melting and ocean circulation.
She is, in my view, precisely the sort of trailblazer this award was designed to recognize and celebrate," said Lynden Archer.
