Santa Clara County officials will spray an East San Jose neighborhood with a bacterial spray next week to eradicate invasive Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, capable of transmitting serious diseases like Zika and dengue fever.
The pesticide being used, Wide Area Larvicide Spraying, derived from a nontoxic bacteria, targets the mosquitoes' larvae and poses no harm to humans, beneficial insects, or wildlife.
