Pod of 20 dolphins spotted in NYC waters by Staten Island jet skiers

Nicholas Demetriades described the encounter: "We had them on both our port and starboard sides. There had to be over 20 dolphins." This excitement highlights the rare sighting experienced by the group.

"We were so excited," Nicholas Demetriades reflected on the surreal experience. "It was like something out of a movie and an amazing experience. We didn't expect to see anything like that while out on the water."

According to Andrea Gomez of NOAA, "it’s common for dolphins to be in the northwest Atlantic Ocean, but it can be harmful for them to be found in brackish waters as they navigate away from their preferred habitats."
