When we peer into the infinite blackness that defines the expanse of our universe, we can recoil in fear or transform the shadows into light.
Most of our universe is void; about 80 percent of its volume is made of nothing. Our planet and the life we find here amount to essentially zero.
Faced with the true scale of the empty cosmos, it’s tempting to view our existence as meaningless, but we can learn to reject that nihilism.
In studying cosmic voids, I discovered that despite their vastness, they house many wonders that remind us of the beauty of existence.
