'Once in a lifetime' comet spotted above London skyline
Briefly

Comet C/2023 A3, visible above London, marks a once-in-a-lifetime event as it approaches Earth closely for the first time since the Neanderthal era.
With an orbit of 80,000 years, Tsuchinshan-Atlas will be visible to the naked eye, providing a unique opportunity for British stargazers before it again vanishes for generations.
Current data indicates the comet will shine at magnitude +1 or +2, making it comparable in brightness to prominent celestial bodies like the North Star and Venus.
Named after the observatories that discovered it, A3 comes from the Oort cloud and is currently around 44 million miles away, speeding at 150,000 miles an hour.
