No Need to Panic about the Joro Spiders
Briefly

Joro spiders, also known as Trichonephila clavata, are harmless, don't readily bite, don't kill humans, and contrary to social media myths, can't fly. They are not a danger to humans, kids, or pets, according to biologist Erin Grabarczyk at Valdosta State University.
Joro spiders, native to East Asia, were introduced to the U.S. in 2013, probably via shipping containers. Despite their large size and striking appearance, they are shy and docile creatures, as noted by Andy Davis, a University of Georgia scientist studying the spiders.
