Zimbabwe's Environment Minister stated, "Indeed Zimbabwe has more elephants than we need, more elephants than our forestry can accommodate," highlighting the urgent need for culling.
Tinashe Farawo emphasized that the permits for hunting would be issued in needy communities to manage both human-wildlife conflict and food shortages effectively.
The increase in competition for resources due to rising temperatures has led to drastic measures, including the planned culling of elephants to prevent further deaths from drought.
