Millions of teenagers in Africa have undiagnosed asthma study

The study indicated that in the context of urbanisation in Africa, millions of teenagers may have asthma without formal diagnoses, impacting their daily lives significantly.

'If our data are generalisable, there are millions of adolescents with undiagnosed asthma symptoms in sub-Saharan Africa,' noted Dr Gioia Mosler, emphasizing the scale of this health issue.

Non-communicable diseases cause huge mortality, with 41 million out of 56 million deaths annually, primarily affecting the developing world due to rising unhealthy lifestyles.

Investment to combat non-communicable diseases in low-income countries is alarmingly low—the health burden is high, yet the resources to manage it remain disproportionately inadequate.
