As the temperature in the air rises, so too does the temperature of the pavement, endangering the delicate paw pads of dogs walking on it. Jordan's mission is to protect the most vulnerable—homeless dogs, or the pets of people who are unhoused—who often walk multiple miles a day on scorching ground. She emphasizes that if it's 120 degrees temperature-wise, it's 140 degrees on the concrete.
Jordan's nonprofit, Laws for Paws LLC, has raised over $7,000 to provide protective boots for more than 515 dogs. With her determination to protect these animals, she has learned to measure a dog's foot for proper sizing and has actively participated in distributing the boots through a partner organization, Dogs Day Out AZ. Jordan's selfless commitment shows a remarkable dedication to her community's most vulnerable animals.
In Arizona's Maricopa County, homelessness is surging, prompting profound decisions among pet owners who often prioritize their animal's care over shelter. Some individuals feel compelled to remain unsheltered to ensure the well-being of their pets, illustrating the deep bond between humans and their animals. This reality highlights the crucial work being done by advocacy groups like Dogs Day Out AZ to support both humans and their pets during extreme weather conditions.
