The exoplanet, named Epsilon Indi Ab, is a super-Jupiter with a freezing surface, located just 12 light-years away, and is the coldest planet studied by the JWST.
Researchers were surprised by the unexpected position of the exoplanet when imaging with the MIRI instrument, discovering underestimated mass and orbital separation.
