Dr Roberts argues that the current TfL map suffers from serious design flaws, stating, 'It has poor balance, simplicity, coherence and topographical accuracy' which diminishes its effectiveness as a navigational tool.
In defending his radical redesign, Dr Roberts states, 'I caused a stir a few years ago calling it a 'garbage piece of lazy design' and nothing has happened since to change my mind.', underscoring his dissatisfaction with the TfL map.
The new design features Oxford Circus at the map's center with tube lines arranged in a way that enhances topographical accuracy, as Roberts claims it is easier to comprehend compared to the original.
Despite the rampant interest and acclaim his design has received, Dr Roberts reveals that 'TfL doesn't plan on changing theirs anytime soon', highlighting the resistance to revising established transportation designs.
