The tragic incident occurred around 5pm on the hill that is part of the so-called Circuito Chico and is 2075 metres above sea level. As a result, a woman of Irish origin died, a man was injured and another remains missing.
Rescue workers said that they would resume their searches early Thursday morning, as the survivor who was treated was suffering from hypothermia and could not provide information about his companions.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where they discovered the body of the Irishwoman. Another man was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and hypothermia.
In recent days, the area was said to have experienced a lot of snow accumulation and unstable ground leading to a 'considerable' risk of landslides.
