Iceland's Puffling Rescuers
Briefly

During the annual puffin patrol in Iceland's Westman Islands, families volunteer late at night to rescue misdirected pufflings that are confused by city lights.
These young puffins, or pufflings, often mistakenly navigate toward artificial lights, which can lead them to dangerous environments rather than the safety of the ocean.
Once rescued, the pufflings are safely transported to a more suitable launch point, either a beach or a cliff, for their return to the sea.
Photographer Micah Garen documented the heartwarming tradition of puffin patrol as communities come together to preserve the survival of these young birds.
