Greece tourist port flooded with hundreds of thousands of dead fish
Briefly

The recent influx of dead fish in Volos highlights the environmental risks stemming from last year’s flooding, which displaced freshwater species into inhospitable saltwater.
Authorities collected over 40 tonnes of dead fish within 24 hours from the port of Volos, driven by concerns regarding the overwhelming stench and environmental consequences.
Volos Mayor Achilleas Beos criticized the government for not taking preventative measures, asserting that the rotting fish could signal an environmental disaster for local ecosystems.
Experts attributed the fish die-off to historic floods in Thessaly, which caused a nearby lake to overflow, displacing fish into the port where they could not survive.
