Grand Canyon hotels forced to close for overnight stays as water pipeline fails
Briefly

The failure of the Grand Canyon's main water pipeline has led to unprecedented stage 4 water restrictions, resulting in the cancellation of overnight stays at hotels during peak tourist season.
Park officials highlight that the Transcanyon Waterline, built in the 1960s, has exceeded its expected lifespan with over 85 major breaks since 2010, but this is the first time such severe restrictions have been implemented.
Josh Coddington from the Arizona office of tourism expressed concern that the perception of the park being closed due to water issues could negatively impact surrounding towns that rely on tourism for their local economies.
Hotels outside the park in Tusayan will remain unaffected by the water restrictions, allowing some accommodation options for tourists visiting the Grand Canyon even with the park's overnight stay limitations.
