Fukushima nuclear plant: operation begins to remove radioactive debris
Briefly

Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) has commenced a challenging operation to extract radioactive debris from the Fukushima nuclear plant, a critical step toward decommissioning.
The operation aims to collect three grams of debris, which contains extremely hazardous material remaining 13 years after the catastrophic tsunami and earthquake.
The extraction of fuel debris presents significant challenges, with Tepco encountering technical issues that temporarily halted earlier attempts to begin the operation.
Despite the challenges, Tepco has utilized advanced robotics to assist in the cleanup, including mini-drones and robots capable of operating in highly radioactive environments.
