"This one was a tricky scene," said Dr. Angela Soler, an anthropologist on the ME's team. "It's a very rocky area with lots of crevices." In analyzing skeletal remains that had surface-washed near the Brooklyn Bridge, the forensic specialists not only had to contend with the geological challenges but also the delicate task of discerning specific anatomical features that ultimately pointed towards the victim’s gender and possible identity.
"We didn't have the same technology back then," Soler said. "We didn't even have the Internet." Reflecting on past cold cases, she highlighted how advancements in forensic science have dramatically transformed the investigative landscape, allowing teams to revisit and solve mysteries that had remained unresolved for decades.
