Emperor penguin found on Australian beach, thousands of miles from home

The bird sort of turned at an angle and I could see its backbone protruding. Never in my wildest thoughts would I thought I'd ever have an emperor penguin to care for.
To my knowledge, we have never seen emperor penguins on mainland Australia. This sighting was much farther north than the previous New Zealand sightings and, so, fairly exceptional.
