Earth-sized planet spotted orbiting small star with 100 times sun's lifespan
Briefly

The newly discovered Earth-sized planet, Speculoos-3b, orbits a cool red dwarf with endless days and nights due to synchronous rotation, similar to how the moon faces the Earth. Its short orbit creates a year shorter than an Earth day.
The planet was detected as it passed in front of its host star, an ultra-cool red dwarf, by the Speculoos global network of telescopes. Such stars, making up 70% in the galaxy and surviving for 100bn years, provide potential for life emergence despite extreme conditions on Speculoos-3b.
