Could Monkeys Really Type All of Shakespeare?
Briefly

In a new paper, mathematician Stephen Woodcock from the University of Technology Sydney concludes that there is simply not enough time for a finite number of monkeys to produce even a simple work like 'Curious George.' Much less the complex works of Shakespeare. Even with a seemingly limitless span of time ahead, the typing monkeys, he suggests, will have made no substantial progress by the time the universe reaches its end.
An infinite number of monkeys typing for an infinite amount of time may sound whimsical, but the mathematicians and scientists analyzing this hypothesis remind us that it elicits serious questions about probability and chance. The theorem itself sparked conversations not just in philosophy, but also expanded into realms like computer science and astrophysics.
