The WHO report revealed that 30% of sexually active teenagers in Europe, Central Asia, and Canada didn't use any form of contraception in their last sexual encounter.
Hans Henri Kluge stated that while the findings are dismaying, they are not surprising, as rates of unprotected sex among young people are at their highest since 2014.
The report highlights the neglect of age-appropriate comprehensive sexuality education, which has come under attack in many regions, wrongly believing it promotes sexual behavior.
The study's authors stressed the necessity for new reproductive health services and unrestricted access to sex education to ensure teenagers receive the support they need.
