Climate protesters close off Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum DW 09/07/2024
Briefly

Climate protesters from Extinction Rebellion blockaded Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum to demand the end of the museum's relationship with ING, a bank they accuse of funding climate harm.
"It's incomprehensible that the Rijksmuseum can allow itself to be financed by ING, the largest financial driver of the climate crisis... hiding its face behind famous works of art."
A museum spokesman stated, 'Any action that jeopardizes this [safety] is unacceptable.' Their closure aims to protect visitors, staff, and the collection from disruption due to protests.
In response to the protest, an ING spokesman remarked, 'If XR has a problem with ING's financing policies, they should turn to us directly and not to the Rijksmuseum.'
