Researchers have described the baby mammoth nicknamed Yana as the best-preserved mammoth carcass in the world, unmatched among only seven whole remains ever found.
Experts revealed the mammoth, unearthed in Siberia, was preserved in such exceptional condition due to the region's permafrost, acting as a natural freezer for prehistoric remains.
University rector Anatoly Nikolayev expressed surprise at the discovery, highlighting the significance of Yana in understanding prehistoric life and conditions in ancient Siberia.
The mammoth, estimated to be over 50,000 years old, weighs 180kg and measures 120cm tall, embodying a rare glimpse into the past of prehistoric fauna.
