Australia has approved a groundbreaking A$20 billion solar project aiming to deliver energy from a massive solar farm to Singapore via a 4,300 km undersea cable.
Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek stated that this initiative will create the world's largest solar precinct, capable of powering three million homes and positioning Australia as a leader in green energy.
The 12,000-hectare SunCable project, located in the Northern Territory, is designed to provide four gigawatts of energy for domestic use and export two gigawatts to Singapore.
SunCable's Managing Director Cameron Garnsworthy announced that the next steps in planning are focused on advancing toward a final investment decision target by 2027.
