The researchers conducted over 3,000 computer simulations to test if an interstellar star's gravity could explain the eccentric orbits of trans-Neptunian objects, confirming their hypothesis.
Lead author Susanne Pfalzner highlighted that many of these trans-Neptunian objects have orbits that are inclined relative to the plane of the planets, indicating a gravitational disturbance.
