The Yankees traveled to Williamsport to take on the Detroit Tigers in their first ever appearance in the relatively new Little League Classic. While the game did not go as planned - much like the Field of Dreams Game three years ago, the big bad Yankees played the perfect antagonists, holding a lead late in the game only to lose on a heartbreaking walk-off with a sinkerballer on the mound. Despite the frustration, the series was an absolute blast for the Yankees, and more importantly, for the hundreds of Little Leaguers who had descended on Williamsport.
Yesterday, the Yankees held their annual Old Timers' Day celebrations, which this year particularly honored the 1999 and 2009 World Series championship teams. CC Sabathia said that he is 'pissed' that the Yankees are no longer playing the Old-Timers' Day game. 'I think it would be fun to get some of these guys moving around, maybe even in a softball game.' Jorge Posada, however, expressed a more practical viewpoint, stating, 'Everything hurts. I haven't touched a bat in so long. I just feel like most of these guys can't do it.'
