Although there was understandable hope that this might signal the return of 21-year-old wunderkind Jasson Domínguez, the more logical interpretation was that the long-injured Jon Berti was ready to be activated from his rehab assignment. As the Yankees prepared for their upcoming seven-game homestand against the Royals and Red Sox, Berti was indeed spotted at Yankee Stadium.
Jasson Domínguez will be activated by the Yankees today. So, yes, the Martian has finally landed in the Bronx. The Yankees have long insisted that if Domínguez returned to the majors, he would be a regular, not a part-time player. So if they hold true to that, then expect to see a whole lot of him down the stretch as the Yankees try to fend off the Orioles for the AL East title.
