For the 41st time in franchise history, the New York Yankees are going to the World Series. A dramatic three-run home run off Juan Soto sealed the game for the Yankees, who are American League Champions for the first time since 2009, with a 5-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians.
Trailing 2-0 in the sixth inning, the Yankees tied it up through the red-hot Giancarlo Stanton, who launched a two-out home run to left to tie the game. That was the last of the scoring until the 10th inning.
With two outs in the 10th, Juan Soto sent the most important home run in recent Yankees history to deep right-center field, putting the Yankees ahead 5-2.
Luke Weaver nailed down the save, sending the Yankees to the World Series. They will await either the Mets or Dodgers in the World Series.
