A big factor the Yankees had going in the favor entering the final two months was that of a weak schedule the rest of the way, particularly in August. They've failed to really take advantage, with yesterday's ugly loss to the pitiful White Sox setting the team back and nudging them out of first place in the AL East.
It's just one game, and if the Yankees can come back and take the next two games to win the series it'll ultimately be no harm no foul, but there's no more embarrassing feat at this point than losing to Chicago.
