Popular MLB host begs Blue Jays to end misery and steal Cody Bellinger from Yankees
"The Cody Bellinger contract saga continues to grow, and it seems a certain media personality in baseball wants to see a drastic move made sooner than later. At the time of this writing, the New York Yankees continue to wait on Bellinger's decision, and per MLB Insider Jim Bowden, he's mulling over multiple offers from multiple teams and "expected to make a decision shortly." Among the teams being speculated about are the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Toronto Blue Jays, and one popular baseball personality host thinks Toronto needs to strike as soon as possible."
""I do think [the Blue Jays] are seriously involved in someone like Cody Bellinger," said Braun. "They're losing outfielders after this coming season, and Belli's bat fits there. "[The Blue Jays] were going after Kyle Tucker. This is going to cost them less," said Braun, and frankly, he's not wrong. Bellinger's anticipated contract could sit just north of $200 million, but spread out over a longer-term deal, meaning a lower AAV."
Cody Bellinger is weighing multiple offers and is expected to decide shortly. Reported suitors include the New York Yankees, New York Mets, and Toronto Blue Jays. Scott Braun of Foul Territory TV believes the Blue Jays should act quickly to sign Bellinger after missing out on Kyle Tucker. Braun notes Toronto will lose outfielders after the coming season and that Bellinger's bat would fit their roster. Bellinger's anticipated contract could exceed $200 million but may carry a lower average annual value if structured over more years. Braun contends the Blue Jays can outcompete the Yankees despite New York's firm offer.
