Devin Williams: Open To Reunion With Yankees
"Williams told Bryan Hoch of MLB.com he'd " definitely be open" to rejoining the Yankees in free agency. " I really enjoyed my experience here. ... There's a lot to like about this city, but it took me some time to adjust. " New York acquired Williams from Milwaukee this past offseason."
"Williams earned a save against his former team on opening night. He gave up three base runners and needed 36 pitches to get three outs, but got the job done. Williams had a couple of uneven performances in the ensuing weeks, including an extra-inning loss against Pittsburgh, though none came in save situations. He locked down all four of his initial save chances."
Devin Williams expressed openness to rejoining the New York Yankees as a free agent and described his experience in the city as enjoyable despite an adjustment period. New York acquired Williams from Milwaukee last offseason, trading Nestor Cortes and Caleb Durbin after Clay Holmes left for the Mets. Williams saved the opener but produced uneven early outings, including blown saves that cost him the closer role. He later regained effectiveness, converting 12 of 13 save chances from June through July. The Yankees added relievers at the trade deadline, and David Bednar assumed late-inning duties down the stretch and in the playoffs.
