Around the Empire: Yankees news - 2/13/25
Briefly

As the New York Yankees gear up for the 2025 MLB season, roster decisions are becoming critical five weeks out from Opening Day. With established players like Aaron Judge secured in their positions, other roles remain competitive. Positions at second and third base, as well as potential placements for Jasson Domínguez, are still undecided. Additionally, there is speculation concerning Ben Rice's involvement, with possibilities for both backup catcher and a role at first base should Paul Goldschmidt falter. Starting pitcher Gerrit Cole remains healthy and focused, embracing his leadership role.
We've gotten looks at individual player projections from Dan's ZiPS programming, and now we have an early look at projected standings for the American League.
While some of those names are already penciled in - I think Aaron Judge is a safe bet to start in right field - there are still a number of open competitions.
