Sudan's army takes full control of Khartoum, RSF remains defiant
Briefly

The Sudanese military has declared victory in Khartoum, regaining control after months of conflict with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The army, led by chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, announced that the capital is free from RSF control and has conducted a counteroffensive that successfully pushed through to the city. Although there are remaining RSF fighters hiding in residential areas of Khartoum, the RSF has stated it will not retreat. The military's victory marks a significant shift in their efforts to reclaim lost territory over nearly two years.
The announcement came after army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on Wednesday declared the capital free from the RSF while standing inside the newly reclaimed presidential palace.
According to army sources who spoke to Al Jazeera, there were still areas in Khartoum where RSF fighters were holed up in residential buildings, unable to leave because they were afraid of being captured.
Our forces today have forcibly cleansed the last pockets of the remnants of the Daglo terrorist militia in Khartoum locality, military spokesman Nabil Abdullah said in a statement.
The RSF pledged there would be no retreat and no surrender, saying its forces had only repositioned. We will deliver crushing defeats to the enemy on all fronts.
