The New York Rangers signed goalie Igor Shesterkin to an eight-year, $92 million contract, making him the highest-paid goalie in NHL history, surpassing Carey Price's previous record.
Shesterkin, 28, argued to be the Rangers' highest-paid player following negotiations for several months, now averages $11.5 million per year, closely behind Artemi Panarin.
As of the current season, Shesterkin's performance stands at 9-9-1 with a 3.05 GAA and a .908 save percentage, despite having won the Vezina Trophy in 2022.
The Rangers find themselves in a transitional period, trading their captain Jacob Trouba, while still being in playoff contention after a recent 6-0 shutout against the Penguins.
