Kaliyev's metrics are stellar, limited only by poor on-ice shooting. This comes mostly from his spot in the lineup, playing mostly fourth line minutes with linemates that, to be nice, lack skill.
Claiming Kaliyev off waivers may work out. It may not. But at least the Rangers tried it. Small victories, I suppose.
