Arthur, the carriage horse who became famous after a frightening incident in Central Park in 2018, has passed away peacefully in a sanctuary. After the incident that left passengers injured, Arthur quickly became a symbol for animal rights activists. Following his rescue, he found an adoptive owner, Sabrina Rudin, a restaurateur. Rudin desired to give Arthur a quieter, happier life away from the public eye. With the help of a stable in the Hamptons, Arthur enjoyed a tranquil retirement in a spacious and caring environment.
Finding a stable large enough for Arthur, a towering Percheron gelding, proved challenging. But Rudin found a home for him at Swan Creek Farms in Bridgehampton.
I was very clear that I just wanted to very privately bring him home ... and give him a different kind of life, said Rudin.
