Double Vision': How an NHL goalie inspired Foreigner's arena-rock megahit
Briefly

During the fall of 1977, Lou Gramm and Mick Jones of Foreigner were in a NYC studio working on a follow-up album. They faced a creative roadblock while trying to finalize a particular song, struggling to find the right words. However, inspiration struck when Gramm, during a vocal take, watched a New York Rangers game on a small TV in his booth. His connection with the team and love for hockey played an unexpected role in completing the track, showcasing the intertwining of music and sports.
Gramm recounted, 'I had a little eight-inch TV taped to the upper left-hand corner of this little booth... I could watch the Rangers between my takes.'
Lou Gramm shared, 'It was quite frustrating... I could not find the words or a phrase that would culminate what I was singing about in the verses.'
