Rangers' major offseason moves are largely complete, with Artemi Panarin's future being the main pending issue. The team's roster features two certain lines, with the fourth line including Edstrom, Carrick, and either Rempe or Brodzinski. The top-nine is nearly established, but two spots remain open, most likely for a scoring winger and a two-way/defensive wing. Competition includes players like Othmann and Berard. On defense, the pairing of Gavrikov and Fox is confirmed, while other positions require further clarity.
The offseason is 'just beginning,' but for all intents and purposes the Rangers are done making major moves. The only lasting major question regarding roster construction is Artemi Panarin's future, but that likely won't be resolved until the trade deadline.
As of now, only two lines appear to be 'set' by the loosest of definitions. The fourth line will be Adam Edstrom-Sam Carrick-Matt Rempe/Jonny Brodzinski.
The top-nine is mostly set with Panarin, Miller, Lafreniere, Cuylle, Zibanejad, Vincent Trocheck, Juuso Parssinen, and Taylor Raddysh. But that does leave two open Rangers roster spots.
If Zibanejad is a center in a scoring role, that means Trocheck becomes the de facto shutdown center and Berard would be competing with Parssinen.
