Mets' Paul Blackburn to resume throwing after knee injection
Briefly

Paul Blackburn is optimistic about his recovery from a knee injection, expecting minimal time on the injured list. He will resume throwing soon and feels his condition has improved. His injury has allowed two other pitchers to secure spots on the Mets' roster. Blackburn, who is being considered for a starting role in an upcoming rotation change, previously underwent surgery to repair a cerebrospinal fluid leak. Manager Carlos Mendoza is also making adjustments in the lineup as the season progresses.
Blackburn described the ailment as a "little bit of cartilage that seemed a little pissed off."
Everything we got back from it was good news and everything has progressed really well," Blackburn said Friday before the Mets' 3-1 win over the Astros.
Team brass is considering Blackburn for a starting role once the Mets shift to a six-man rotation, likely on the next road trip.
His IL stint allowed Max Kranick and Huascar Brazoban to open the season on the major league roster.
