Mets announce the passing of Ed Kranepool
Briefly

Ed Kranepool, the longest tenured player in Mets history, passed away at age 79, leaving behind a legacy as a key member of the 1969 Miracle Mets.
We are incredibly heartbroken to learn of Ed Kranepool's passing... He was an original Met, debuting at age 17 and playing 18 years, with 1,853 games.
I could tell by his eyes if a runner was going or not. He saved me a lot of stolen bases. Ed was the best first baseman I ever played with.
Eddie was a big bonus baby...He never had an ego and was just one of the guys. He was a wonderful person.
