Metro-North trains on schedule Monday after days of work to repair damage
Briefly

Metro-North trains are set to operate on a normal schedule Monday, following significant delays caused by downed power lines near Southport. The incident left some 1,200 passengers stranded for several hours last Thursday. MTA officials suspended electricity to ensure safety, resulting in uncomfortable conditions on trains with no air conditioning. Crews worked over the weekend to repair the damage, replacing 400 feet of overhead catenary and realigning 2,000 feet of track to restore service reliability. With repairs complete, the MTA confirmed all trains will run as scheduled for Monday's morning rush hour.
Throughout the incident response, our teams replaced 400 ft of overhead catenary and then realigned an additional 2,000 ft of the network on each of the affected tracks to ensure reliability.
Passengers were stranded for hours after power lines came down near Southport on Thursday afternoon. Some people spent five hours on trains that were stopped due to the issues.
